Cornell # ENERGEM: Engineering Enzyme Reactions to Generate Methylxanthines # Methylxanthines are an important class of compounds used for various medical applications, including eye diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory illnesses. Cornell iGEM will be focusing on 7-methylxanthines in particular with ENERGEM to treat moderate to severe forms of myopia in patients where surgeries, such as LASIK or automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), cannot be performed.
