Flora Sentinel - A Novel Biopesticide based on self-amplifying RNA #

ZJU-China proposes the use of synthetic biology to develop a biological, plant-based pesticide. They have designed a long stranded RNA that can be translated into an immunoprotein, providing targeted resistance against specific pathogens. Inspired by RNA vaccines, they have equipped it with a platform for movement and amplification within plant tissue. ZJU-China believes that clean and effective biopesticides will play a significant role in the future, protecting crops and ensuring abundant harvests.
